About IWM North

This museum provides a moving timeline of history from the First World War to the present day, revealing an immense collection of over 2,000 objects and stories in the process.
The museum
The museum offers the immersive opportunity to experience the award-winning 360° Big Picture Show, which brings a broad range of perspectives into focus every hour on vast 27-foot-high walls. Numerous captivating artefacts draw the past into focus, including the likes of the US Harrier hanging above the entrance, the Field Gun which fired the first British shell of the First World War, and steel remnants retrieved from the World Trade Center. Powerful visual representations of war are displayed from a range of artists, including Tim Shaw, Linda Kitson, and Gerry Judah.

Location & parking
IWM North is easily accessible via the tram. Metrolink offers fast, frequent and fully accessible transport to and from Manchester city centre. Bus route X50 stops outside IWM North, while routes 250 and 50 also serve the area.
IWM North car park is open every day from 7am-7pm. Secure parking is available for 160 cars, including designated parking spaces for Blue Badge holders. Payment must be made upon exit.
Bicycle racks are available to the left of the vehicle entrance to the car park.
